Utility Billing/Metering
Inventory Control
Using meters for billing is a double edged sword, each user is billed according to their usage - those using more pay accordingly, but.... meters are expensive and require renewal to maintain their accuracy. During times of economic stress, the utility may be pressed to defer meter replacement for necessary cost reductions. Older meters lose accuracy each year. While deferred replacement saves capital dollars, operating revenue shrinks. Our service addresses this conundrum through a capital investment component.
We invest in the capital meter replacement expense with “cost recovery" from “recovered revenues” (the funds now being recovered through the accuracies of the new meters), stabilizing rates while maximizing revenues to the utility.

Utility billing has focused on accuracy and report generation. Highly necessary features. Common inaccuracies occurred most often during manual data entry. Recent billing improvements utilize handheld scanners for meter reading collection and data entry, greatly reducing common data inaccuracies.
Billing meters must meet certain specifications allowing for extremely accurate readings with all wear or malfunction resulting in lower than actual readings. The proposed “smart” meters would meet or exceed that specification while including the capability to send information on usage over the internet for billing. The new meters replace the existing ones, which have exceeded their useful life in many cases.
The “recovered” revenue is not a rate increase, but rather an accurate reading on the actual water used.
